Cookie Policy
Effective October 1, 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how CHEESE LLC uses cookies and similar technologies on Recipe Cheese. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy. The short version: we use a small number of essential technologies to make the site work, and advertising cookies only if you say yes.
1. What cookies and local storage are
Cookies are small text files that a website asks your browser to store. The browser sends them back to the website on later requests, which lets the site recognize the same browser, for example to keep you signed in. Cookies set by the site you are visiting are called first-party cookies. Cookies set by another company, such as an advertising network, are called third-party cookies.
Local storage is a similar feature built into your browser. It lets a website save small pieces of information on your device. Unlike cookies, local storage is not sent to our servers with every request; it stays in your browser until it is cleared.
Some cookies are session cookies, which are deleted when you close your browser. Others are persistent, which stay for a set period or until you delete them.
2. Types we use
Strictly necessary
These are required for the site to work, such as keeping you signed in, protecting forms against forged requests, remembering the items in your cart and remembering your cookie choice. They do not track you across other websites. Because the site cannot function properly without them, they do not require consent, but you can still block them in your browser settings (some features will then stop working).
Advertising
These are set by Microsoft Advertising (Bing Ads) to measure whether our ads lead to sign-ups or orders and to show our ads to people who have visited our site. They are used only if you choose "Accept all" in our cookie banner.
We do not use separate analytics cookies or social media plugins.
3. The full list
| Name | Purpose and duration |
|---|---|
| rc_sess | Essential, first-party cookie. Keeps you signed in, remembers your session as you move between pages, and protects forms (such as checkout and contact) with a security token. Expires when you close your browser or sign out. |
| recipecheese_cart | Essential, browser local storage. Remembers the products in your shop cart and their quantities so your cart is still there when you come back. Stays until you empty your cart, complete checkout or clear your browser data. Not sent to our servers except when you check out. |
| recipecheese_cookie_choice | Essential, browser local storage. Remembers whether you chose "Accept all" or "Essential only" in our cookie banner, so we do not ask again on every page. Stays until you clear your browser data. |
| MUID | Advertising, third-party cookie set by Microsoft Advertising (Bing Ads). Only with your consent. A unique identifier used across Microsoft sites and services to recognize a browser for ad measurement and remarketing. Typically lasts up to about 13 months. |
| _uetsid | Advertising, cookie set by the Microsoft Advertising (Bing Ads) UET tag. Only with your consent. Stores a session identifier so actions during a visit (such as starting a trial or placing an order) can be linked to an ad click. Typically lasts about 1 day. |
| _uetvid | Advertising, cookie set by the Microsoft Advertising (Bing Ads) UET tag. Only with your consent. Stores a visitor identifier used for conversion tracking and remarketing across visits. Typically lasts up to about 13 months. |
Cookie lifetimes for third-party cookies are set by the provider and may change. Microsoft Advertising (Bing Ads) may set other related cookies for the same purposes; they are covered by the same consent choice.
4. Advertising cookies
We advertise our recipes, membership and shop through Microsoft Advertising (Bing Ads). If you choose "Accept all", our pages may load the Microsoft Advertising (Bing Ads) Universal Event Tracking (UET) tag. The tag can read and set the cookies listed above and send Microsoft Advertising (Bing Ads) information such as the pages you view on our site, whether you completed an action like a sign-up or order, your IP address and browser details.
We use this to:
- Measure conversions, meaning whether someone who clicked one of our ads later started a trial or placed an order; and
- Remarket, meaning show our ads to people who have visited our site when they use Bing, other Microsoft services and partner sites.
Microsoft Advertising (Bing Ads) handles this data under its own privacy statement: https://privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement.
If you choose "Essential only", the UET tag is not loaded by our site and none of these advertising cookies are set by our pages.
5. How to manage your choices
Our cookie banner
The first time you visit, a banner asks you to choose "Accept all" or "Essential only". Your choice is saved in your browser. To change it, clear the site data for Recipe Cheese in your browser settings (or clear your browsing data). The banner will then appear again on your next page view so you can choose again. Note that clearing site data will also empty your cart and sign you out.
Your browser settings
Most browsers let you view, block and delete cookies and site data. You can usually find these options under Settings, then Privacy or Security. You can also block third-party cookies entirely. Look for help pages in your browser for instructions. If you block the essential rc_sess cookie you will not be able to sign in or check out, and if you block local storage your cart will not be saved.
Mobile devices
Your phone or tablet may also offer settings to limit ad tracking or reset your advertising identifier. These are found in your device privacy settings.
6. Advertising opt-out tools
In addition to our banner, you can use these industry tools to control interest-based advertising:
- Microsoft ad settings, to turn off personalized ads from Microsoft.
- Network Advertising Initiative opt-out.
- Digital Advertising Alliance opt-out.
- YourAdChoices, for more information about interest-based advertising.
These opt-outs usually work by setting a cookie in your browser, so they apply only to the browser you use and may need to be repeated if you delete cookies or switch devices. Opting out does not stop all ads; it stops ads that are based on your browsing activity.
7. Global Privacy Control
Global Privacy Control (GPC) is a setting available in some browsers and extensions that tells websites you do not want your personal information sold or shared for targeted advertising. We honor GPC. If your browser sends a GPC signal, we treat it as an opt-out for that browser and do not load advertising cookies, even if "Accept all" was chosen before. More about your privacy rights is in our Privacy Policy.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy if we change the technologies we use or when the law requires it. We will update the effective date at the top of this page. If we add a new type of non-essential cookie, we will ask for your consent again before using it.
